The Urban Garden Site
The Urban Farm is Halifax's secret garden tucked in amongst a grove of trees in the Spryfield community. It can be a challenge to find but our gardens on the Kidston's traditional farm field are well worth tracking down. The Urban Farm is at the corner of Rockingstone Rd and Ardwell Ave. follow the path through the split rail fence and take the first gravel path on your left hand side up to the garden. Cycling and walking If you live in the neighborhood we would love to see you pop on over by foot or on your bike. Dogs are welcome as well but they are to be kept on leash and picked up after. Bikes are welcome on the property we currently do not have a proper lock up and if you chose to lock to a tree we do ask that you be careful not to damage them in the process. BusingThere are two HRM city bus routes that run near our location: #14 stops at the corner of Rockingstone Rd and Leblin Dr. is within a block of the farm. The stop is on Rockingstone Rd. you follow Rockingstone Rd. past Leblin Dr. intersection down the hill and when you see a split rail fence the gate is coming up on the left hand side, follow that path until you reach the gravel path on your left that leads into our farm field. #20 bus will drop you off on Herring Cove Rd. right by the South Center Mall. Once you jump off the bus you continue down Herring Cove Rd. and take a right on Sussex St. and then a left onto Kidston Rd. This road becomes a gravel foot path and it will take you to the two Urban Farm entrances located on the right hand side of the path (both are marked by two fence post and at times a orange chain link gate across the entrance). For more bus schedule and map information please go to HRM site: HRM transit information DrivingIf you are headed down Herring Cove Rd. in either direction you will need to take Sussex. The best place to park in the Captain William Spry Community Center large back parking lot then walk up the gravel path (the path is located at the back of the parking lot and you just follow it up the hill then to the left it will take you to the two Urban Farm path entrances located on the right hand side of the path (both are marked by two fence post and at times a orange chain link gate across the entrance). If you decide to continue driving up Sussex St. At the top of the hill there will be a four way intersection take a left onto Rockingstone Rd.
